GUN BUYER’S ANNUAL 2015. Published by Harris Publications, Inc., Dept. TGM, 1115 Broadway, New York, NY 10010. Price: $9.95. Available at most bookstore and newsstands.

This 178–page softbound magazine-size tome is reminiscent of the type published two-score or so years back, such as the 1973 GUNS ANNUAL. It features a number of gun–related articles, 17 in this particular annual, plus a catalog or directory of the latest firearms. The illustrations consist of both color and black and white photos in the articles, and black and whites in the catalog section. Various advertisements are scattered throughout, but not in an overpowering quantity.

Gun Buyers AnnualThe articles cover the gamut—handgun, rifle, shotgun, airgun, and knife—with only a muzzleloading arm missing. (It’s difficult to cover every aspect of shooting, or even every type of firearm in an annual of this size, but the articles selected cover the field well.) Leading off with a report on the UTS–15, a bullpup-style 12-gauge pump shotgun with a 15–round capacity, and ending with a training piece on Hitting the Bullseye, this Annual provides something for almost every shooter. Some sidebars provide additional information.

The catalog section is divided into four parts—handguns, rifles, shotguns, and others—plus a one-page directory listing the company names and e-mail addresses of 114 firms, from Adam Arms to Yankee Hill Machine. The main sections feature a photograph of each individual arm—eight handguns per page, and six long arms per page—along with basic specifications. The ‘Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price’ is provided for most of the firearms.

This annual is a handy one to have available, and about as up–to–date as is possible to achieve. It doesn’t have every new firearm model listed, but it hasn’t missed many. The catalog cover-age is good and the articles are a bonus. It doesn’t get much better for the price.
