Auto-Ordnance has announced the availability of its latest Thompson semi-automatic rifle, a .45 caliber firearm that pays homage to America’s most renowned military submachine gun.
This iconic piece of history, celebrated for its service to America in global conflicts, is now meticulously crafted to mirror the quality of the original, while integrating modern material options for enhanced performance and durability.
Reducing Weight While Preserving a Legend
The new Auto-Ordnance Thompson preserves the authentic look and feel that made its predecessor a legend. Key features include the classic cooling fins, a top charging handle, the distinctive vertical front grip, and the effective Cutts compensator.
A significant innovation comes with the introduction of new polymer furniture models. These versions feature a lightweight frame precision-milled from durable aluminum. The furniture itself utilizes a highly resilient polymer, finished with a beautiful wood grain that captures the aesthetic appeal of traditional walnut but offers far greater durability and weather resistance.
“We are incredibly proud to bring this blend of history and modern manufacturing to Tommy Gun fans,” said Director of Marketing, Jodi DePorter. “The Thompson is more than just a rifle; it’s a piece of American history. With the new aluminum receiver and polymer furniture, we’ve been able to reduce the weight by approximately five pounds compared to the traditional steel and wood models, making it more accessible and comfortable to shoot without sacrificing the classic Thompson appearance.”
All models are equipped with a TM1 style rear sight and offer various magazine options, including a 20-round stick, as well as 50-round and 100-round drum magazines. The barrel length is 18”. The Auto-Ordnance Thompson continues to be a symbol of American ingenuity and a coveted item for collectors and shooters alike. MSRP: T5P, $1,558; T5P50D, $1,970; T5P100D, $2,140.
