CA Senate Committee to Hear Gun Bill Friday

The National Rifle Association is alerting members in California about a hearing on AB 2847 this Friday, July 31 before the State Senate Public Safety Committee.

According to NRA, this legislation—sponsored by Assemblyman David Chiu (D-17) “revises the criteria for handguns to be certified for sale by requiring a microstamp in one place on the interior of the handgun (current law requires two imprinting locations).”

Another tenet of the legislation “requires the removal of three certified handguns from the roster for each new handgun added.”

NRA noted that no new semi-automatic pistols have been added to the state’s handgun roster since microstamping was certified seven years ago.

Also, NRA said, the Assembly is expected to vote on SB 118 this week. This measure expands the state’s “Assault Weapon Control Act.”
