In a gratifying and satisfying development for the Second Amendment community and university students in South Dakota, concealed carry on public campuses in the Mount Rushmore State is now permitted.
On Thursday, the South Dakota board of regents approved a measure which allows for individuals with enhanced firearms permits to concealed carry in the domain of higher education. The mandate is a direct result of legislation voted in by state elected officials which nullified a previous bill banning guns and other tools of self-defense on public university campuses.
Gun rights supporting politicians in the state have earned their respective paychecks in supporting the fundamental freedoms of law-abiding citizens, and restoring rights which were severely limited on the pathway leading to the ugly and dangerous reality “gun-free” zones.
According to aberdeennews.com, the implementation and restoration of pro-firearms policy for 18+ students and staff was a priority to enhance public safety. “This is something that we don’t take lightly,” said Regents Executive Director Nathan Lukkes.
He added, “The safety and well-being of our students and campus communities remains at the forefront, and we wanted to make sure that we were very thoughtful, very intentional, on the policy framework that we put together to do that to the best of our abilities,”
People with bad intentions can be rest assured that their criminal behavior will not be tolerated as actions have consequences.
