American voters went to the polls Tuesday to select a president, but they still do not know who won the race for the White House, and now with legal challenges in several states combined with allegations of vote fraud, the 2020 election is turning chaotic.
On Wednesday morning Trump supporters woke up to a murky picture of the presidential race, but there was still optimism in the Trump camp. Thursday morning, with major media outlets calling states for Biden while many votes were still left to be counted, the road to reelection for Trump looks difficult, but not impossible.
By Wednesday afternoon Trump took to Twitter to make his case that the election process is rigged in key states.
The president’s tweets, combined with news outlets such as Fox News calling what appears to be a very close race with 14 percent of the vote yet to be counted, throws serious shadows on the credibility of the media and the election process itself.
The election had not been decided as of early Thursday morning, and there is still a path for President Trump to retain the White House, according to various sources. Even if all of the remaining ballots are counted Thursday, there are still probable recounts and legal challenges to come.
What is desperately needed is transparency in the election process and fair reporting from major media outlets, critics contend.
In an article that was mentioned in an evening tweet by President Trump there is a video showing the view of the recount being blocked to observers by someone who appears to be election staff placing large pieces of cardboard over windows into the counting room.
Meanwhile those who volunteered to be poll watchers are being turned away. Rick Ector of Rick’s Firearm Academy in Detroit posted to Facebook when he was turned away from observing the ballot count in Detroit on Wednesday.
When asked late Wednesday if there were poll watchers in attendance to watch the count he stated, “I am told there were. That is second-hand information. I can’t say for sure.”
Fox news is reporting that multiple lawsuits have been filed to stop vote counting in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Georgia. (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-campaign-request-recount-wisconsin) According to the Fox report, Trump campaign manager Justin Clark stated, “Pennsylvania’s unhinged, radical left Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar has tried her hardest to bake in a backdoor to victory for Joe Biden with late, illegal ballots in collusion with the partisan state supreme court.”
