Author, nationally-recognized firearms instructor and self-defense expert Massad Ayoob, who also serves as president of the Second Amendment Foundation, has won the “Gundie” award as the “Top 2A Writer” for the second year in a row.
The author of several books and regular columns in American Handgunner, GUNS Magazine, and Backwoods Home, Ayoob was named SAF president following the death of former SAF President Joseph Tartaro in June 2020.
Ayoob was recognized during the annual Gundie Awards gathering earlier this week, preceding the opening of the 2026 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas. The Gundies recognize the contributions of writers, bloggers, podcasters, activists and other personalities involved in the Second Amendment movement. This was the 7th annual awards celebration, held at the Venetian Theater in Las Vegas.
Ayoob has been a recognized powerhouse in the firearms community since publication some 40 years ago of his ground-breaking book on firearms and self-defense, “In The Gravest Extreme.” He has testified as an expert witness in several cases, and has traveled extensively as a firearms instructor.
