A Grand Rapids, Michigan man who fatally shot another man in May 2025 was acquitted by a jury this week after accepting his self-defense plea, but according to Michigan Live, he’s probably going to jail, anyway.

Keith Decelous-Leon Tett, Jr. will reportedly be sentenced April 1—a date which may seem appropriate—because he was a convicted felon who was carrying a concealed handgun at the time he killed 31-year-old Montaness Lowe outside of a Grand Rapids lounge. At the time of the shooting, Tett was on parole.

According to a published report, Tett and Lowe had a prior history. They had both been dating the same woman. When they encountered one another at the bar. There was a confrontation and the two men were escorted out of the establishment.

As they walked out, according to the report, Lowe struck Tett, who claimed he feared for his life, and then drew a gun and fired.
