Buried in a report on the newest NBC News survey is the revelation that registered voters trust Republicans more than Democrats on border security (53-26%) and dealing with crime (47-25%) and immigration (46-34%), while Democrats get higher marks on protecting constitutional rights (46-39%).
That will come as a surprise, if not an outright shock, to the nation’s Second Amendment activists, who have watched Democrats from Providence, R.I. to Puget Sound continually add restrictions on gun owners’ rights.
Another revealing poll result is that the only things with lower ratings among voters than Artificial Intelligence are Democrats and Iran. Republicans get a 37 percent approval from survey respondents while Democrats only got a 30 percent approval rating, according to the NBC News survey.
While the poll was focused on Artificial Intelligence, it did suggest Democrats may not be as able to recapture Congress in November as some pundits have been discussing.
According to NBC, the poll was conducted Feb. 27-March 3 and surveyed 1,000 registered voters nationally. The margin of error is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
Across the country, Democrats in states including Minnesota, Michigan, Oregon, Washington and California have been pushing gun control measures. Critics contend they are attempting to shift blame for crime away from criminals and onto firearms and the people who legally own them.
There are other interesting data from the NBC survey.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has a higher positive/negative rating (34-41%) than either President Donald Trump (41-53%) or Vice President J.D. Vance (38-49%). All three outpace California Gov. Gavin Newsom (27-45%) and Kamala Harris (34-51%).
Democrats also get higher marks than Republicans on the subject of protecting democracy. Here, Democrats got a 47 percent approval against the Republicans’ 36 percent.
