A pair of fake police officers got the last surprise of their lives when they tried to invade a Houston, Texas home only to wind up exchanging shots with the homeowners, who fatally shot both of them.
According to KHOU News, this happened late on the evening of Aug. 23 when two men wearing ski masks, soft body armor and apparently fake badges knocked on the door of a residence and announced they had a warrant. What they apparently didn’t know was that the homeowners had a Ring camera and could tell something was not right.
As noted in a televised interview, a Houston Police spokesperson, Lt. Amber Khan, said the two suspects were masked, there were “no police cars, no lights or anything like that.”
But they did have guns, and when they fired shots through the door, the unidentified homeowners fired back, also through the door. Both fake cops were killed.
According to KTRK News, there was a child inside the residence at the time of the shooting.
“The homeowners spoke with the police and said they thought it was unusual that they didn’t hear sirens or see police cars once the suspects showed up,” KTRK reported.
Nobody in the residence was hurt, according to Khan’s description of events to KHOU.
This is not the first time something like this has happened. In July, a fake motorcycle officer in Hemet, California was stopped by a real cop and arrested.
According to a police department news release, the faker was identified as Marshal Goodnight, a convicted felon. He now faces multiple charges.
