The chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform—the same committee which investigated the “Fast and Furious” Obama administration scandal 14 years ago—is now “escalating its probe” of alleged “collusion” between the Biden administration and the gun prohibition lobby.
Fox News is reporting—while other news agencies appear to be looking the other way—that Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) sent a letter to Robert Cekada, head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, requesting that ATF “provide documents and communications between the Biden Administration and Everytown (for Gun Safety) to assess their coordination in initiating lawsuits against firearm manufactures that undermine Americans’ civil liberties under the Second Amendment.”
In his letter to Cekada, Comer wrote, “On December 20, 2023, the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention (WHOGVP) met privately with representatives from Glock, during which the Biden Administration requested that Glock change their pistol designs. Three months later, on March 19, 2024, the City of Chicago filed suit in state court against Glock with Everytown Law, the litigation arm of Everytown, listed as counsel for the plaintiff. The day the suit was filed, John Feinblatt, President of Everytown, posted on his X account, ‘[f]ederal Officials recently contacted Glock to discuss implementing new ways to modify Glock pistols…Rather than help, Glock falsely insisted there is nothing they can do.’ Mr. Feinblatt appears to have had insider information regarding the WHOGVP’s private meeting with Glock, which raises questions about whether the Biden Administration colluded with Everytown to initiate their lawsuit against Glock.”
Comer then adds, “The Committee is also aware that certain members of the Biden Administration have had a personal connection to Everytown. For example, Rob Wilcox, the former Deputy Director of the WHOGVP, worked at Everytown for nearly eight years prior to his employment in the Biden Administration. Additionally, immediately following her role as Associate Assistant Director for the ATF, Marianna Mitchem was hired by Everytown to serve as Senior Firearms Industry Advisor.”

During the Biden administration, there were repeated allegations that the ATF had been “weaponized” against firearms retailers and gun show operations. During his long career on Capitol Hill and then through his years as both Barack Obama’s vice president, and then as president (2021-2025), Joe Biden was an ardent gun control proponent. He even bragged about his involvement in passing major gun control legislation.
Fox News further reported, “House Oversight Republicans previously subpoenaed the Biden ATF and Everytown for all communications related to their “’potential collaboration efforts,’ but neither party complied with the request.”
The White House Office on Gun Violence Prevention was immediately shut down after Donald Trump was sworn in for a second term as president in January 2025. The WHOGVP was seen by Second Amendment advocates as an unprecedent in-house gun control “mini-bureaucracy” whose task was to promote restrictive gun policies. Its very existence became a campaign issue in 2024, bringing millions of gun owners to the polls to return Trump to the Oval Office.
In his letter to Cekada, Congressman Comer requests:
1. All documents and communications between any individual employed at the ATF, Everytown for Gun Safety, and Everytown Law related to the “Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act,” “PLCAA,” “Chicago litigation,” “Glock switches,” “auto sear,” “conversion devices,” “gun control litigation,” “Illinois Firearms Industry Responsibility Act,” “IFIRA,” “gun retailers,” “Smith & Wesson,” and “Ruger;”
2. All documents and communications between the Director of ATF, Steven Dettelbach, and the President of Everytown for Gun Safety, John Feinblatt;

Comer provided a deadline of July 8 for this information.
