New Rasmussen Survey Could Spell Trouble for Dem Congress

Capitol Hill Democrats could have something to worry about because a new Rasmussen survey that finds only 17 percent of likely voters rate Congress’ performance as “good” or “excellent” while 54 percent think Congress is doing a poor job.

According to Rasmussen, “Those numbers are worse than in April, when 21% gave Congress excellent or good ratings.”

It’s a devastating dive for the Democrat-controlled Congress, although the numbers are a bit higher when they are broken down by political affiliation.

“Twenty-seven percent (27%) of Democrats rate the way Congress is doing its job as good or excellent,” Rasmussen reported, “compared to just 12% of Republicans and nine percent (9%) of (Independents). Only 39% of Democrats say Congress is doing a poor job, compared to 66% of Republicans and 60% of unaffiliated voters.”

By no surprise, Rasmussen Reports said, “President Joe Biden’s strongest supporters have a much higher opinion of how Congress is doing its job than do others. Among voters who Strongly Approve of Biden’s job performance as president, 38% give Congress an excellent or good rating. By contrast, among voters who Strongly Disapprove of Biden’s performance, only two percent (2%) rate Congress excellent or good, and 84% say Congress is doing a poor job.”

This may explain the content of an email fund raising message received by TGM expressing concern about the $45 million reportedly taken in so far by the House GOP campaign effort that could endanger some vulnerable Democrats. According to the message, “National Republicans are laser-focused on retaking the House majority in 2022, and they’re building the warchest they need to spend millions on attack ads to defeat Democrats in swing districts.”

The message also perpetuates the Democrats’ effort to link Republican challengers as “Trump supporters.”

According to Rasmussen survey results, Democrats are going to have to work a lot harder to convince older voters to support their party’s candidates. The survey found voters under 40 “give Congress better ratings than do older voters, with more than 60% of voters 40 and older saying Congress is doing a poor job.” A whopping 65 percent of retired voters give Congress “a poor job performance rating.”

If this trend continues, Democrats led by Nancy Pelosi and radical Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez could be in trouble in November 2022, finding themselves in the minority on the morning after the midterm elections.
