It’s not often we get to see reader reaction to articles in TheGunMag.com, but the ongoing weekly series on revolvers by editor Dave Workman has been hitting some chords on social media.
We thought it would be fun to share some of the reactions to different ‘Wheelgun Wednesday’ columns, which, of course, focus on revolvers. You know, sixguns. Six-shooters. Round guns.
WHEELGUNS!
“Good one, Dave. (‘Blast From the Past,’ March 25) I remember the first one of these I ever saw. In 1972, I was a 16 year old dispatcher for a literal one-cop town in Oklahoma. My Chief always carried a 4″ blue Model 19, until he came in one day and I couldn’t help but notice his holster was quite a bit shorter and his grips looked “funny”. I asked him what he was carrying and he showed me my first Model 19 2.5 inch. I fell in love. I never got one or even got to shoot one until 7 years later in the academy. They were using Model 14’s with 6″ barrels, but were one short for our class. That worked out well for me. We had a guy from Admin going thru class with us, and he loaned me his 2.5 inch nickel model 19 to go thru firearms block with. He used his same model 66. I managed to take top honors with the “snubbie”. I’ve had several over the years, but I’m not meant to keep one I guess. Someone always comes along and offers me crazy money for them, so off they go. Thanks for the great article.”

Robert Raney made a clever reference to an old Jim Croce tune “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” in reference to the Feb. 4 installment “For Sheer Spunk, the .32 H&R Magnum Shines.”
