Savage Arms opened the new year by announcing two new rifle models for 2022 in advance of the annual Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas later in the month.

The new selections include the addition of .17 Winchester Super Magnum (WSM) to its A Series rifles. The new A17 WSM Sporter and A17 WSM Target Thumbhole “pair the dynamic rimfire cartridge with Savage’s A Series semiautomatic action for exceptional accuracy and fast follow-up shots,” the company said in a news release.

“Savage has seen outstanding performance from the 17 WSM cartridge and felt it could be optimized in new platforms,” said Jessica Treglia, Sr. Brand Manager at Savage. “The A Series rifles have a delayed blowback design that accommodates this caliber with limited modifications, making it an ideal action for the WSM cartridge.

“We are launching the A17 chambered for 17 WSM in two of our more popular configurations,” Treglia added. “Both are designed for target shooting and varmint hunting applications and have rigid laminate stocks. Both the Target Thumbhole and Sporter run from Savage’s 8-rnd rotary magazine.”

Both the A17 WSM Sporter and A17 WSM Target Thumbhole are button-rifled barrel and include the user-adjustable AccuTrigger™ for precision and accuracy.

A17 WSM Sporter Features

  • Gray wood-laminate stock
  • Delayed-blowback action
  • Hard chrome bolt with oversized bolt handle
  • Case-hardened receiver
  • 22-inch button-rifled barrel
  • 8-round rotary magazine
  • User-adjustable AccuTrigger
Savage 110 Carbon

Savage is also adding the 110 Carbon Tactical to its line of 110 bolt-action rifles. The new 110 Carbon Tactical builds upon the success of the 110 Tactical, but cuts weight with an exclusive PROOF Research® carbon fiber wrapped stainless steel barrel, the company said in a news release.

“The 110 Tactical has proven to be an exceptionally versatile rifle,” according to Treglia. “The 110 Carbon Tactical is the next step in this design. With its beavertail forend, AICS magazine compatibility, and one-piece 20 MOA rail, the 110 Carbon Tactical is an adaptable and highly capable rifle—and now it is even lighter. With its new PROOF Research carbon fiber wrapped barrel, it weighs in at just over seven-and-a-half pounds.”

The new model “provides uncompromised balance.” The rifle features a PROOF Research barrel with a rigid AccuStock, securing the action three-dimensionally along its entire length. AccuFit allows for multiple adjustments to its length-of-pull and comb height. The new 110 Carbon Tactical will be available in grey and flat dark earth.
